Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun led a 15-hour livestreamed road test last week, driving the company’s newly launched pure electric SU7 Pro from Beijing to Shanghai to demonstrate its endurance capabilities.
The test began at 6:35 a.m. on April 17 from Xiaomi’s Beijing plant and concluded at 9:40 p.m. in Shanghai, covering 1,313 km. The SU7 Pro, equipped with 19-inch wheels and a CLTC-rated range of 902 km, recorded an average energy consumption of 14.6 kWh per 100 km, finishing with 3% battery remaining after only one full recharge at Shandong Linshu service area.
Lei said that top executives personally conducting long-distance tests is an internal tradition aimed at improving products through firsthand experience. The high-profile livestream was also positioned as a transparent response to market scrutiny ahead of the 2026 Beijing International Auto Show starting April 24, where Xiaomi will showcase its full electric vehicle lineup.
