HONG KONG – The 12-episode courtroom drama “COURT!” produced by Milkyway Image has concluded, earning praise as one of the most polished locally produced series capable of competing on a Netflix-level stage.
The series marks a significant step for Milkyway Image after its earlier attempt with “Three Lives,” which received mixed responses for ambitious storytelling that proved difficult to sustain. This time, the studio has delivered a tightly executed legal drama that resonates with international standards.

“COURT!” distinguishes itself with meticulous depictions of real courtroom procedures rarely seen in local productions. From jury deliberations to the protocols of witness testimony and objections, the show highlights the precise nuances of Hong Kong’s judicial process, even adopting slower pacing to capture authentic legal exchanges.

The performances of familiar Hong Kong actors including Kevin Chu Kam-yin and Max Cheung Tak-lun have been notably elevated, with the script’s focus on measured courtroom tension allowing nuanced portrayals of prideful, reserved, or calculating legal professionals. The show avoids typical romance or melodramatic arcs, centering instead on the human side of legal practitioners and the emotional undercurrents that influence their decisions.

Structured around three interlinked cases, the drama builds suspense through quiet connections between characters whose paths cross subtly across trials. A carefully placed callback in the finale, referencing an unresolved incident from the first case, delivers a sense of narrative closure without overt exposition.
As producers hinted on Threads, there are two more unit planned for the show. Hopefully audiences can sit back and wait for Season two.
