HONG KONG, May 1, 2026 – Toys“R”Us Asia marked the 40th anniversary of its first Hong Kong store with the grand reopening of a fully transformed flagship at Ocean Terminal, Tsim Sha Tsui. The store, which first opened in 1986 under the leadership of Dr. Victor Fung of Fung Investments, has become a nostalgic institution for generations of local families.

The revamped flagship introduces nine immersive IP store-in-store concepts, including Pokémon, TOMICA, BANDAI, LEGO, Nintendo, Sanrio Gift Gate, Sylvanian Families, Transformers, and VTech, many of which make their Hong Kong debut. Exclusive products, interactive zones, and experiential retail elements aim to attract children, families, and the city’s growing community of “Kidults.”
Mr. Algernon Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR, said the transformation reflects the evolution of global retail, turning traditional toy stores into leisure and tourism destinations. He noted that the diversified offerings enhance Hong Kong’s retail landscape and shopping experience during the Labour Day Golden Week.
Mr. Leo Tsoi, CEO of Toys“R”Us Asia, emphasized that the flagship aligns with the brand’s “Live Toyful” strategy, catering to rising demand for pop culture, collectibles, and emotional play experiences. The store features signature themed zones such as a Miffy photo area, a Korean IP showcase, and a 3D printing experience zone.

With more than 450 stores across 10 Asian markets, Toys“R”Us Asia plans to continue expanding with localized experiences. The Ocean Terminal flagship, positioned as one of the brand’s most significant global locations, reinforces Hong Kong’s status as a hub for innovative retail and cross-generational play.
