Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) reported a 4% year-on-year increase in net profit to HK$2.153 billion for the first half of the year, as the company leveraged improving local consumer sentiment and business conditions.
Adjusted free cash flow rose 3% to HK$2.639 billion, while EBITDA gained 3% to more than HK$6.58 billion. Total revenue climbed 8% to over HK$18.68 billion, with the board declaring an interim distribution of 34.8 cents per share.
Managing Director Susanna Hui said the group is confident in sustaining growth, driven by rising demand for AI-ready infrastructure, data center connectivity, and international submarine cable capacity. HKT has begun deploying hollow-core fiber to meet surging computing power requirements from hyperscale cloud providers.
Telecommunications service revenue rose 3% in the first half, with pay-TV revenue edging up 1% to HK$1.169 billion. The 5G postpaid subscriber base grew 16% year-on-year to 2.2 million, representing 62% of total postpaid customers.
Boosted by exclusive FIFA World Cup broadcasts, Now TV’s installed user base increased 3% to 1.49 million, while the OTT customer base surged 18%. The company said its new one-stop AI platform has received strong market response, helping lift ARPU through bundled offerings.
