Addressing delegates at the Great Hall of the People on Wednesday, the premier said Beijing will continue to fully implement One Country, Two Systems and ensure Hong Kong and Macau are administered by patriots.
Li also mentioned the central government’s backing to the two SARs on growing their economies, improving people’s livelihood, and deepening international exchange.
On social media, the chief executive said the government work report not only set out the country’s economic targets and policies, but also gave great direction for the practice of One Country, Two Systems.
Reflecting on the premier’s message, Lee said his administration is heading in the right direction with its policies.
“By following this correct policy direction and proactively aligning with the nation’s development strategies, Hong Kong’s development will have a bright future,” he wrote.
“We must better leverage the advantages of the One Country, Two Systems principle and break new ground.”
The SAR will further deepen international exchanges and strengthen its role as a connector, Lee added.
“On top of consolidating trade ties with traditional markets such as Europe and the United States, we will also work hard to explore new markets including the Middle East, Asean countries, and Central Asia, while actively striving to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership,” he wrote.
