Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law said that as the cubs grow older, they will soon need to live separately, making this year’s celebration with their mother, Ying Ying, especially precious.
She urged members of the public to cherish these moments and visit them while they’re all together.
“Thinking back – two years ago, they were just tiny babies,” Law said.
“And now, they’re almost 60 kilogrammes. That’s heavier than me! People often say I’m fat, but these pandas weigh more than I do.
“They’re agile and playful – but they’re already growing into little adults.”
Ocean Park is marking the pandas’ birthdays with panda-themed events, including a five-metre-tall bun tower and a photo area with more than 60 sculptures.
All celebrations run until the end of August.
