Officiating at the ceremony, Chief Secretary Eric Chan noted that Tsuen Wan has the highest number of subdivided units in the New Territories.
He said the Castle Peak Road facility, spanning 7,000 square feet, is the sixth of its kind to be rolled out this year and brings the total number of community living rooms to 15 so far.
Three more are expected to open their doors by the end of the year, Chan said.
“A community living room that is this big is expected to benefit 610 subdivided unit households, and the number of people served throughout the year is approximately 92,000,” he said.
“Along with the Tsuen Wan West community living room that began operations in June, the two can serve about 1,100 subdivided unit households in the district altogether.”
Apart from facilities such as a cooking and dining area, study room and laundry area, the latest community living room also features a music room and a nap corner for infants and toddlers.
