In a social media post detailing the study tour, Lee revealed that she and her fellow lawmakers received a special briefing on the core tenets of the nation’s 15th Five-Year Plan, as well as specific recommendations for the SAR’s own development strategy.
Drawing inspiration from the mainland’s approach, Lee emphasised the need for efficiency and resolve.
“We should learn from the nation’s efficiency and determination in advancing its planning – overcoming all difficulties with firm resolve, accelerating development, and deepening reform,” she wrote.
She further stressed that even if certain targets prove difficult to meet in the short term, the government must collaborate with experts to establish scientific, medium- and long-term goals, ensuring the planning blueprint is executed in an “orderly and pragmatic manner”.
Lee noted that the lecture provided the delegation with a profound, multi-dimensional understanding of the role Hong Kong assumes within the nation’s grand strategy.
Describing the session as “broad in vision”, she highlighted that it offered deep insights into the holistic thinking and meticulous planning behind the nation’s five-year frameworks, while also analysing China’s strategic opportunities and global challenges from a worldwide perspective.
