Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Rosanna Law today congratulated Hong Kong athletes on winning one gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the 5th Asian Para Games, in boccia and fencing.

Boccia competitors Leung Yuk-wing and Cheung Yuen seized gold in the Mixed Pairs-BC4 event, the third gold medal for the Hong Kong, China delegation at the Games.

Miss Law praised the delegation on continuing its winning streak on the final day of the games, adding that the athletes had brought glory to Hong Kong. Commending Leung and Cheung for taking top spot in the world rankings, she said they had displayed exceptional skill, winning four consecutive rounds in the final to secure the gold medal.

In other boccia events, Loung John, Chan Pak-lun, and Yeung Hiu-lam clinched a bronze medal in the Mixed Team-BC1/BC2 event, while Tse Tak-wah and Chan Ho-yan took bronze in the Mixed Pairs-BC3.

Miss Law said the boccia team performed admirably, achieving their best results ever, taking home two gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.

Fencers Chung Yuen-ping, Lam Ka-man, Tong Nga-ting and Yu Chui-yee claimed a silver medal in the Women’s Sabre Team event, while Glass Sean, Kwong Yuen-hing, Lam Ka-man and Tong Nga-ting bagged bronze in the Sabre Mixed Team category.

Miss Law highlighted that the fencing team has won a total of eight medals, comprising three silver and five bronze, surpassing their previous performance.

She extended her sincere thanks to all the athletes for their hard work, and to the coaches, medical team, and support staff for their dedicated assistance. “This honour belongs to the entire team, making all Hong Kong citizens moved and proud!” Miss Law added.
