On September 3, the Henan Cultural Tourism Promotion Conference and Heluo Culture Exhibition was held in Bandung, Indonesia, bringing together more than 100 representatives from the Indonesian government, enterprises, media, overseas Chinese business associations, and culture and tourism industry organizations.
The Henan Cultural Tourism Promotion Conference highlighted Henan’s ancient capitals, martial arts, porcelain, and Chinese character culture. Through video screenings, live performances, and cooperation agreement – signing ceremonies, the event showcased the diverse appeal of Henan’s culture and tourism to Indonesian audiences. Five specially curated travel routes for Indonesian tourists were also unveiled: “The Center of Heaven and Earth,” “Kung Fu in the Central Plains,” “Poetic Land of Henan,” “Craftsmanship of the Heluo Region,” and “A Culinary Journey to the Roots.”
The Heluo Culture Exhibition featured sections exploring the origins of Chinese civilization, the history of music, the legacy of porcelain, the mysteries of Chinese characters, the roots of Chinese surnames, and new developments in culture and tourism. By drawing comparisons with local Indonesian culture, the exhibition told stories of civilization spanning from the Yellow River to the Java Sea.

From September 1 to 3, a series of cultural pop-up events were also held at cultural landmarks, shopping malls, universities, and other venues in Jakarta and Bandung. Intangible cultural heritage practitioners from Henan specializing in paper-cutting, incense culture, traditional bone-setting, tea ceremony, Tang Sancai pottery, martial arts, and traditional Chinese music demonstrated their skills and interacted with Indonesian audiences, giving local residents an opportunity to experience the charm of Heluo culture close to home.
