China’s State Council on Tuesday removed Erick Tsang Kwok-wai from his position as Hong Kong’s Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, according to Xinhua News Agency. The decision was made in accordance with the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The move followed the recommendation of Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu. Tsang, who has served in the role since 2020, was responsible for overseeing constitutional development and liaison with mainland authorities.
