Xi, who is on a state visit to Egypt, called for efforts to consolidate the Gaza ceasefire, and enable the Palestinian National Authority to return to Gaza as soon as possible.
In a joint statement, the two leaders also voiced concern over Israel’s dangerous escalation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
They stressed the need to uphold the integrity of the Palestinian territories and support the United Nation’s relief works there.
The statement reiterated firm opposition against any plans to displace Palestinians under any pretext or in any name.
Xi and El-Sisi noted that the Palestinian question remains at the core of the Middle East issue, and that a just and lasting settlement to the question should be based on the two-state solution.
The president also raised a four-point proposal on building a new security architecture in the Middle East.
To do this, he said a vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security should be upheld.
He also told El-Sisi that China supports countries in the region in developing good neighbourly and friendly relations. (Xinhua)
