His remarks came after three renovation workers were arrested for allegedly stealing jewellery from a unit of the estate.
Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday, Chow said more police officers would be deployed to the site to enhance security.
He added that lockers would be provided for workers’ personal belongings and cash.
“We have arranged some lockers, some storage boxes, for all the workers to store their valuables like watches or jewellery, and they are not allowed to bring cash more than HK$500,” Chow said.
“But, of course, they are allowed to bring with them their mobile phones.”
Police will inspect units before workers are allowed to enter, he said.
“Right after they go up to the buildings for strengthening work…my escorting officers will go in to inspect the premises to see if there are any valuables placed conspicuously, like on the table or on the shelves, etc,” Chow said.
“So if there are, they will make a record, and also, they will ask the workers to countersign, so that we are all on the same page.”
Chow went on to say that all workers would be subject to a body search with metal detectors after finishing their work inside the buildings to prevent items from being taken out.
He added that the force received 81 enquiries related to Wang Fuk Court as of 5pm on Sunday, mostly from residents who were concerned about the security of their flats.
Chow also said the force will conduct a review of the case involving three renovation workers who allegedly stole jewellery to see if negligence was involved.
