Taiwanese YouTuber Andy’s Explosive Allegations Drive Record Growth
Taiwanese YouTuber Andy, co-founder of the highly popular channel ‘Crowd’, has sparked widespread public attention following a viral video accusing his former girlfriend and business partner, Jia Ning, along with her family, of unfair business practices and emotional harm. The 38-minute video, titled “I Have Nothing Left After the Breakup”, uploaded on March 11, swiftly amassed over 6.3 million views, driving Andy’s personal YouTube channel subscriptions from 220,000 to a remarkable 1.18 million subscribers within just 32 hours—a new record in Taiwan’s YouTube community.
Allegations and Public Reaction
In the explosive video, Andy laid out eight serious allegations, ranging from hidden equity arrangements and opaque financial records to losing control over the ‘Crowd’ channel he co-founded with Jia Ning. He claimed that Jia Ning’s mother secretly registered the channel’s trademark privately, effectively excluding him from any brand ownership. He further accused them of abruptly removing him as company director, restricting him from viewing financial statements, and withholding proper salary and profit-sharing. The disputes extended beyond financials, with Andy also highlighting that essential filming and editing equipment had been taken away, severely limiting his ability to produce content independently.
The controversy sparked an overwhelming wave of public support for Andy, with prominent Taiwanese influencers such as Joeman and Little A-La publicly expressing solidarity. Fans and fellow YouTubers quickly contributed over NT$700,000 (approximately US$22,000) through online donations, demonstrating significant sympathy toward his plight. Several local brands and businesses, including adult entertainment platform Model Media offering him a 10-year VIP subscription, as well as tech suppliers providing filming equipment, have stepped up to assist Andy in restarting his career. Jia Ning and her family, meanwhile, have remained silent amid mounting online criticism.
