The forecaster said the low pressure area has entered central and northern parts of the South China Sea and will move towards Hainan.
“Unless the low pressure system intensifies significantly, or develops closer to the coast of Guangdong, or adopts a track closer to the coast of Guangdong, the chance of persistent strong winds generally over the territory is expected to be relatively low,” it said.
The observatory said it expects occasional heavy showers and squally thunderstorms over the next two days.
