Sporting a green tie designed by a team at the Technological and Higher Education Institute, Lee opened his speech at the Legislative Council by noting that the economy and people’s livelihoods are closely intertwined.
“Improving people’s livelihoods is the ultimate goal of my administration. To provide citizens with better housing, working people with higher incomes, the elderly with better care and young people with greater opportunities, as people’s livelihoods and the economy are intrinsically linked,” he said.
The CE had earlier said that deepening reform would be among the themes of his policy blueprint, and that he would also focus on the economy and improving people’s livelihoods.
The cover of the blueprint’s booklet is green, representing “vibrancy and continuity”.
