The Hang Seng Index gained 143 points, or 0.61 percent, to open at 23,832 on Tuesday, tracking gains on US markets overnight.
Mainland stocks though opened mixed, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.04 percent at 3,380 and the Shenzhen Component Index up 0.26 percent at 10,074.
All three major US stocks indices closed up just under one percent on Monday amid prospects of the US Federal Reserve cutting interest rates as early as July. (Agencies)
