The Hong Kong delegation has won nearly 300 prizes at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva. Among the accolades was a record high of 12 Special Awards, including the Grand Prix won by The Oasis One International.
The delegation comprises 44 organisations, including local universities, research and development (R&D) centres, technology companies, government departments and primary and secondary schools.
The participating Government departments, local educational institutions, research institutes and enterprises demonstrated exceptional performance, clinching 12 Special Awards, 57 Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury and 98 Gold Medals.
Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Professor Sun Dong today congratulated the Hong Kong delegation on its remarkable achievements.
Noting that the city’s research successes stem from it robust innovation and technology capabilities and talent pool, Prof Sun said the Government will continue to deploy resources to enhance talent training and encourage R&D.
The Development Bureau (DEVB) and its departments have also achieved a new record at the exhibition, winning 36 awards for the 36 projects presented by the teams.
Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn today extended her congratulations to the teams from the DEVB’s Works Branch and its various departments for their outstanding performance.
She noted that the DEVB and the works departments have been actively engaged in research and development to apply innovative technologies. Ms Linn said that many of the award-winning projects at the exhibition introduced novel solutions in artificial intelligence, robotics and drones, earning them international recognition.
She highlighted that these projects not only enhance the quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of public services but also serve as a model for the industry. She added that such initiatives drive wider technology adoption across the sector, supporting Hong Kong’s development into an international infrastructure centre.
