A fireworks display involving over 30,000 shells illuminated the sky over Victoria Harbour tonight in celebration of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The 23-minute extravaganza, themed “Eternal Radiance Fireworks in Bloom, Illuminating our Country” and co-ordinated by the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau, attracted hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors to watch along both sides of Victoria Harbour.

The opening scene, “Praise our Motherland”, honoured national strength, while the segment “You are the Sunshine of my Life” explored themes of hope, warmth and optimism.

The “Dreams in the Starry Galaxy” segment showcased a breathtaking interstellar panorama celebrating the courage of Hong Kong’s dream-chasers.

“Love at Home” featured vibrant red hearts and yellow stars to convey love, care and blessings for family, friends and the community.

Other thematic segments included “Moments of Hong Kong”, “Aspiration”, and “Love of my Life”.

The finale, “Celebration to our Prosperous Nation”, conveyed wishes for the country’s continued prosperity and a bright future for Hong Kong.
