The inferno at Wang Fuk Court, which first broke out on Wednesday, has claimed the lives of at least 94 residents
On Friday, residents lined up at Kwong Fuk Estate Community Centre to try and identify the bodies of their loved ones.
Others continued to hold out hope of getting in touch with those who have been unaccounted for, including a resident, Wu, who, with his wife, looked for their domestic helper.
“I told our helper to leave immediately after the fire broke out at the neighbouring block,” he said.
“But she might not been quick enough to leave. We hope that she has survived and was only injured and is being treated in hospital.”
For some residents who managed to get out in time, their future living arrangements were what they were worried about.
“I feel anxious, and it is very upsetting to see the charred buildings,” said a woman, Cheung, who was collecting supplies with her kid.
“I don’t know when I can go back, because I have no idea what the condition of the flat is like.”
