A series of dispatches by the Xinhua News Agency cited the president as saying that the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and making America great again can go hand in hand, complement each other and benefit the world.
Xi said he looks forward to in-depth exchanges with his US counterpart Donald Trump on major issues concerning bilateral ties as well as global issues. He said the “historical logic” of peaceful coexistence between Beijing and Washington has not changed, and he looks forward to enriching the constructive Sino-US relationship of strategic stability.
The president also said he is confident that the two sides can find the right way to get along, saying Beijing and Washington should work in same direction, and promote a stable relationship featuring cooperation as the mainstay.
Xi said with joint efforts, his visit to the United States is sure to be fruitful, adding that he looks forward to engaging extensively with people from all walks of life in the US.
Trump and his wife Melania had greeted President Xi and First Lady Peng Liyuan at Joint Base Andrews upon their arrival on Wednesday, rolling out the red carpet to kick off a three-day visit.
