The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Jakarta, launching a comprehensive collaboration across the liquefied natural gas (LNG) and broader energy infrastructure sectors.

Under the MOU, the two parties will cooperate closely in multiple areas, including LNG supply chain integration, development of floating storage units (FSUs), natural gas power generation, downstream energy applications, and small-scale LNG distribution via ISO tank containers.
During the signing ceremony, representatives from both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the strategic roadmap and future direction of cooperation.

A key component of the partnership involves converting existing diesel-fired power plants (PLTD) on remote islands into cleaner, gas-fired power plants (PLTG) using LNG. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving energy stability in underserved regions.
The partnership will also focus on the deployment of modular LNG regasification units and the development of localized micro-grid systems. These technologies are expected to play a critical role in enabling isolated areas across Indonesia to transition from diesel to natural gas—aligning with the nation’s vision for equitable and sustainable energy access.
Initial pilot projects are scheduled to launch in Eastern Indonesia later this year, with plans to expand operations nationwide in the coming years.
