The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today welcomed the US decision not to renew the national emergency relating to Hong Kong, calling it an important step in implementing the China-US economic and trade consensus.
In a statement, the Hong Kong SAR Government said safeguarding the city’s prosperity and stability serves the common interests of both countries. It also aligns with the general expectations of the international community.
Noting the positive shift in US policy, the Hong Kong SAR Government urged the US to respect China’s sovereignty and the rule of law in the Hong Kong SAR. It also expressed hope for the resumption and strengthening of normal economic and trade exchanges between the two places.
