A PLA fleet is visiting as part of celebrations marking the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the SAR.
Among the visitors was Chan, a self-described military enthusiast, who expressed excitement about being able to take a close-up look at the ship’s equipment.
Another man, Gong, said the event – which included a fitness show featuring PLA soldiers – would leave a positive impression, especially on younger residents.
“Many students have visited the fleet over the past few days, I think it will definitely boost the patriotic sentiment of people in Hong Kong, especially primary and secondary school students,” he said.
“I can see their genuine joy when they see the strength of our motherland. I believe it has a positive effect.”
The ships that are docked in Hong Kong are the guided-missile destroyer Nanning and guided-missile frigate Hengyang.
