Speaking on a TV programme on Saturday, the bureau’s chief Janice Tse said three elections are coming up in the next two years and that her department will strive to ensure fairness.
“The Election Committee subsector elections will take place by the end of this year, followed by the chief executive election and the district council elections next year,” she said.
“All these elections are of a different scale, but a lot of preparation has to be done beforehand.
“We are working hard on that, and we hope a fair, impartial, transparent, honest election can be held in an orderly manner.”
Regarding patriotic education, Tse said the aim is on increasing people’s sense of pride in the nation by understanding its history, culture and developments.
She said more events will be organised to promote awareness of the country’s achievements, such as in space technology.
