The Hang Seng Index climbed 2.69 percent, or 545 points, to 20,810, while the Shanghai Composite Index jumped 1.29 percent, or 41 points, to 3,227.
Asian shares elsewhere also surged in early Thursday trading. Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 jumped 8.8 percent in morning trading, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 soared 5.1 percent, while South Korea’s Kospi gained 5.2 percent. (Agencies)
