One fan, surnamed Kombial, told RTHK that like many at the venue, he arrived early to secure his seat well before the scheduled 8pm kick-off.
“I’m excited to see [the match],” he said. “This is my first football game [in Hong Kong], so I’m super excited to watch.”
Ronaldo, 40, who is marking his maiden visit to the SAR, lifted Al-Nassr to their place in the final on Tuesday with a 2-1 victory over Saudi League holders Al-Ittihad, while Asian champions Al-Ahli advanced with a dominant 5-1 win against Al-Qadsiah the following day.
A fan named Rishab, who was at Al-Nassr’s match on Tuesday, said he was excited to see his life-long idol take to the pitch again.
“The reason why I started playing football was because of him [Ronaldo]. So almost twenty years now,” he told RTHK.
“I’ve basically [followed him] since his Manchester United days all the way until now,” he added. “So it’s amazing that near the end of his time as a player, he’s in Hong Kong in my home city to come and play.”
