Kuse AI, a fast-rising software platform, has taken over Threads with bold advertisements promising feats such as reading 50 pages in a second and boasting that a City University of Hong Kong intern earned millions in a month. The company claims to have surpassed US$10 million in annual recurring revenue within 60 days.
Behind the marketing spectacle, however, are concerns over aggressive monetization. The platform offers very limited free usage before prompting users to subscribe for US$50, approximately HK$400, while users report that refunds are difficult to obtain once enrolled.
Industry observers note that Kuse AI does not operate its own large language model. Instead, it relies on APIs from OpenAI and Anthropic to deliver services through a visualized retrieval-augmented generation interface branded as “Deep Search,” which some suggest adds little value for existing ChatGPT Plus subscribers.
Data security remains a key uncertainty. The company has not provided ISO 27001 or other cybersecurity certifications, and its development team is reportedly based in mainland China. Questions about where user data ultimately resides have not been formally addressed by the firm.
Kuse AI’s “Hong Kong marketing” success story, featuring a CityU intern named Ken, reflects a savvy understanding of students and marketing professionals seeking shortcuts. Yet analysts caution that the platform’s stability and transparency fall short of major AI providers, leaving its long-term credibility in doubt.
