Hong Kong police are investigating an alleged indecent assault involving a four-year-old French boy at the International Montessori School (IMS) in Stanley, after online posts claimed the child may have been sexually assaulted on campus.
The boy’s mother reported the case on April 17 after he complained of pain upon returning home. His father took him to Hong Kong Adventist Hospital in Wong Chuk Hang and filed a police report. Authorities have classified the case as indecent assault, with no arrests made so far, and the investigation is being led by the Western District Crime Unit

IMS issued a statement saying it has fully cooperated with police, reviewed all school records, and checked CCTV footage from the day in question, which showed no signs of inappropriate behavior or any periods where the child was unaccounted for. Police have also indicated that no evidence currently implicates staff or suggests other students are at risk.
The Education Bureau said it is deeply concerned, urging the school to address parents’ worries and provide timely updates. The bureau reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward child harm and noted it would review teacher registrations after the completion of judicial proceedings if any criminal conduct is confirmed.
The case has drawn widespread online attention after screenshots of a parent’s open letter surfaced, alleging the boy suffered severe pain and fever, and claiming the school failed to verify if other children were affected. School principal Timothy Veale has appealed to parents to avoid spreading unverified information, warning that rumors could hinder the ongoing investigation.
