HONG KONG, April 30, 2026 — The Hong Kong Academy for Wealth Legacy (HKAWL) has officially introduced the pan-Asian microfilm festival “Inspiring Asia” to the city, announcing the start of its Hong Kong regional competition. This year’s theme, “Community Empowerment,” encourages young creators and local organizations to capture diverse community stories through short films.
The festival’s Hong Kong chapter is spearheaded by HKAWL as the regional lead partner, in collaboration with social enterprise Under Production as the executive partner. The initiative aims to foster cross-sector dialogue and spark deeper community engagement through creative storytelling.
As part of HKAWL’s flagship philanthropic initiative, Impact Link (iLink), the festival seeks to bridge family philanthropies and local organizations. iLink has observed that family foundations often face two major challenges: helping their funded NGOs attract additional charitable capital and building transformative collaborative funding relationships. Storytelling is positioned as a strategic tool to address these needs.
The Hong Kong competition will feature three prize categories — Best Microfilm, Best Project, and Best AI Film — with a total prize pool of US$30,000 supported by the Asia Community Foundation. One winner and five finalists will be selected for each category, with top entries advancing to the pan-Asian stage.
Public submissions open on May 1 and close on July 6, 2026, with films required to run three to six minutes and meet the festival’s technical standards. Winning entries will be showcased at a September awards ceremony and screening, designed as a hub for family office leaders, philanthropists, young creators, and NGO representatives to translate creative narratives into sustainable social impact.
