In a video posted on his social media page, Lee said the blueprint would tackle major livelihood issues and social development in the coming five years and boost the city’s competitive edge.
“It will consolidate and enhance Hong Kong’s status as an international centre for finance, shipping, trade and innovation and technology, strengthen the city’s development as an international aviation hub, reinforce the city’s status as an offshore renminbi business hub, build a commodity trading ecosystem, establish a hub for high-end global talent and accelerate the Northern Metropolis development,” he said.
“We can benefit from opportunities brought by national economic growth, shared scientific achievements, a vast market, the Belt and Road Initiative and the Greater Bay Area.”
Lee said the SAR government would overcome challenges when carrying out reforms.
He added the city would scale new heights by actively integrating into national development.
Meanwhile, the CE also said the Hetao Hong Kong Park was developing at full speed.
Nearly 100 enterprises have moved to the park since it opened six months ago, with many setting up their headquarters in the SAR, he said.
Lee noted that the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone is a world-class innovation and technology hub that connects the city with the mainland and the world, while the Northern Metropolis would serve as a new engine for Hong Kong’s economic development.
