AI Health Studio Disputes Narrative in Medisafe Controversy, Citing Detailed Development Timeline

July 2025 – AI Health Studio has released a public statement addressing the growing controversy around the Medisafe project, a tool submitted to multiple student competitions by the daughter of a Hong Kong surgeon. The company’s CEO, Ahmed Jemaa, outlined a detailed project timeline and accused involved institutions of misrepresenting the system’s origins.

According to AI Health Studio, the Medisafe platform was commissioned in March 2024 by Dr. Roberta Pang, wife of the clinic owner, and was fully developed by their team across three phases between March 2024 and June 2025. The system was designed as a prototype to simulate prescription safety checks, including drug interaction alerts and allergy contraindications.

The company emphasized that no code, UX, or technical architecture was provided before their engagement, asserting that the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) was “built entirely from scratch” by their developers. Jemaa noted that they were unaware the system would be submitted to academic competitions, including the Hong Kong ICT Awards and the Geneva Inventions Expo, which later awarded the project multiple prizes.

AI Health Studio also disclosed communications with the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) and Hong Kong Education City (EdCity). Despite submitting contracts, payment receipts, technical documentation, and email records, the company said it was informed by HKAGE on July 15 that the student had submitted her project as early as January 2024 and that there was “sufficient reason to believe” the work was solely authored by her. AI Health Studio contests this conclusion, citing its detailed documentation of the project’s build phases.

The firm alleged that after raising its concerns and providing counter-evidence, it received no further response. It also claimed that the client had requested revisions to its published case study to reframe the work as a commercial rollout and offered payment for assistance in managing the public narrative — an offer AI Health Studio declined.

“This statement is not about blame,” Jemaa wrote. “It’s about truth, transparency, and integrity. It exists to clarify the factual record and protect the credibility of academic competitions.” The company says it does not intend further engagement unless compelled by a formal inquiry.
