HONG KONG, Sept. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — MANA Reform has coordinated the procurement, completion and customization of the newly built 5,000-DWT LCT “MV HCY902” for a major Philippine conglomerate. The vessel arrived in Batangas from China on September 12 and is scheduled to enter bagged-cement transport service following completion of import formalities and operational preparations.
MANA Reform Delivers 5,000-DWT LCT to the Philippines
The project reflects the suitability of LCTs for Philippine inter-island logistics. MANA’s assessment identified shallow draft, ramp access and flexible deck space as key advantages for routes serving ports with limited cargo-handling infrastructure. Access to China’s shipbuilding and marine-equipment supply base further supports the commercial appeal of this vessel type, allowing procurement and customization to be aligned with local operating requirements.
MANA advised the client through a technical and commercial evaluation of several vessel options, including an LCT, a new cement carrier, a bulk-carrier conversion, a pressurized cement tanker and a modified deck barge. The assessment considered cargo-handling methods, port conditions, equipment requirements, modification scope and delivery arrangements to establish an appropriate configuration for the intended service.
Following the evaluation, MANA secured a 5,000-DWT single-deck LCT and worked with the shipyard and equipment suppliers to coordinate its completion and customization. The vessel was configured to accommodate palletized bagged cement and truck-based unloading, while preserving flexibility for future cargo requirements.
A principal feature is a customized electric retractable tarp system designed to address the weather-protection requirements of bagged cement in the Philippines’ humid and rainy climate. The system covers the cargo deck during rain and retracts for loading and unloading, providing cargo protection while maintaining open-deck access.
The delivery also required coordination of the vessel’s export from China. Against a changing regulatory backdrop, MANA managed the export process, working with the relevant flag-state and classification parties, vessel crew, export agents and Chinese maritime authorities to align documentation, procedural requirements and departure arrangements. This work connected the vessel’s physical completion with its onward delivery to the Philippines.
