Police have installed four temporary CCTV cameras near the scene of last weekend’s canine-attack tragedy in Yuen Long in an effort to track down stray dogs and boost the efficiency of capture operations, according to sources.
It is understood that the cameras were set up following a review by the security bureau and the police.
Installed at the Nam Sang Wai sewage pumping station on Pok Wai South Road, the cameras are aimed at a nearby cycling path.
The police and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) have been conducting joint operations at the scene since Sunday night to capture stray dogs and animals that may pose a risk of attack.
Sources said the police would continue to step up patrols in the area and would immediately alert the AFCD to take action if any animal is found to pose a potential threat to public safety.
