China’s foreign trade grew 16.9 percent year on year in May in yuan-denominated terms, data from the General Administration of Customs showed on Tuesday.
The total value of goods imports and exports reached 4.45 trillion yuan, remaining above four trillion yuan for the third consecutive month.
Exports rose 13.8 percent while imports increased 21.5 percent.
In the first five months of the year, total foreign trade amounted to 20.68 trillion yuan, up 15.3 percent year on year.
China’s trade surplus came in at US$105.43 billion in May, up from US$84.8 billion a month prior and from a forecast of US$92.1 billion. (Xinhua/Reuters)
