A deputy fire services director, Derek Chan, said three of the calls were received late on Thursday, and firefighters will prioritise them.
“At the same time, we’ll endeavour to effect forcible entry to all the units of the seven buildings, so as to ensure there are no other possible casualties,” he told reporters at a briefing.
Chan said there were a few units still on fire, and more firefighters would be tasked with spraying the buildings with water to lower the structures’ temperature to prevent the ashes from reigniting.
He said firefighters expect to put out the blaze by dawn.
The deputy fire chief said most of the bodies found so far were in Wang Cheong House and Wang Tao House.
He said after the rescue operation is complete, they’ll be able to provide a full tally for those unaccounted for.
Up until midnight, the death toll for the Wang Fuk Court blaze was at 83. Dozens were injured, 12 critically.
