The Hang Seng Index gained 78.62 points, or 0.32 percent, to open at 24,281.94 on Tuesday.
On the mainland, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opened flat at 3,519.81, while the Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.15 percent higher at 10,700.37.
The markets opened ahead of the release of closely-watched mainland GDP figures.
