It said about 260,000 people entered the SAR and about the same number left through the 13 control points.
In terms of departures, about 168,000 citizens and 65,000 mainland visitors left the city. Lo Wu and the airport were the busiest among all border check points.
For arrivals, meanwhile, about 180,000 citizens returned and 60,000 mainland visitors arrived in the city. People mainly travelled through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, followed by the airport.
At Heung Yuen Wai, Hong Kong citizens and mainland visitors were seen queuing for buses in the morning.
One of them, surnamed Chung, told RTHK that she wants to spend her day in the mainland for the cheaper food.
“Eating out in Hong Kong is expensive, the food doesn’t even taste good, and service attitude is bad,” she said.
“I will be going to Dongmen, buy a pair of glasses and dine there. I plan to spend around HK$2,000.”
A man surnamed Mok said he spent two nights with his family in Dongmen.
“We go north almost every long holiday. We spent around HK$400 for a hotel room per night on the mainland, but it would’ve been triple the price in Hong Kong,” he said.
