The duo, pairing up for the first time since December’s World Tour Finals, overcame Japan’s Hiroki Midorikawa and Natsu Saito in a thrilling final.
The Hong Kong pair started strong, taking the opening game 21-15, but their Japanese world number 11 opponents rallied to claim the second game 21-17 to set up a decider.
But it was proved to be the SAR pair’s day as they dominated the third game, winning eight consecutive points at one stage en route to a 21-13 win, lifting the Asian title for the first time.
This marks Hong Kong’s second mixed doubles gold at the event after Reginald Lee and Chau Hoi-wah won it 11 years ago.
Tang and Tse came into the final riding high on confidence, having pulled off a semi-final upset over China’s top-ranked Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin on Saturday.
