Mainland stocks also opened higher, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.17 percent to open at 3,354 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index opened 1.35 percent higher at 10,218 points.
It comes after Beijing and Washington confirmed talks would be held in Switzerland this weekend between Vice Premier He Lifeng and the US trade representative Scott Bessent.
The talks are the first since US President Donald Trump hit China with tariffs totalling 145 percent and China responded with 125 percent duties of its own. (Xinhua)
