A nurse consultant with the HA, Mick Yu, said the system helps provide comprehensive information and medical history of the patient, and can facilitate communication between different medical practitioners.
“When a stroke nurse receives a stroke case we have to communicate with the relative patients and also the neurologist, the AED (Accident and Emergency Department) physician and also the radiologist to arrange different kinds of investigation,” he said.
“We have to make at least 10 or 11 phone calls. After the system implements to the corporate level, we can use the system. We can show all the information to all the stakeholders so that they can get the information everywhere.”
A reporting system on stroke cases has been adopted at certain hospitals since 2021.
“Until now, we have several versions and they have covered Queen Elizabeth Hospital and also the United Christian Hospital to cover acute stroke cases,” said Vivian Kwok, another nurse consultant
