Writing on his Facebook page, Lee said Middle Eastern and Asean markets have enormous potential and are major sources of Muslim tourists.
The number of certified halal restaurants in Hong Kong has increased from 100 to more than 170 since early last year, he noted.
He added that 61 hotels and five tourist attractions and exhibition venues have received Muslim-friendly ratings.
“I will continue to encourage all sectors of society to improve tourism facilities and increase publicity efforts, attracting more Muslim tourists to Hong Kong to experience the unique urban vitality and delicious cuisine,” Lee wrote.
The chief executive is leading a delegation of officials and business representatives to Qatar and Kuwait as part of his ongoing efforts to explore emerging markets and promote Hong Kong.
