New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel has become the city’s first five-star luxury property to receive the LEED Operations and Maintenance (O+M) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The award ceremony was held on April 16, 2026, at the hotel’s Grand Ballroom, attended by over 300 industry representatives, including ESG leaders and hotel partners.
USGBC North Asia Vice President Wang Jing praised the hotel’s achievement, highlighting the challenge of maintaining year-round operations while meeting stringent sustainability standards. General Manager Julian Wipper emphasized that the recognition reflects the team’s commitment to environmental stewardship, community engagement, and sustainable hospitality practices.
LEED O+M certification evaluates existing buildings on metrics such as energy efficiency, water management, indoor environmental quality, and waste reduction. The milestone positions the hotel alongside global properties meeting high sustainability benchmarks and supports Hong Kong’s broader goals of promoting sustainable tourism and moving toward carbon neutrality.
