The 27-year-old, ranked 32nd in the world, defeated former world champion Tommaso Marini of Italy 15-12 in a thrilling final.
Meanwhile, world number one Edgar Cheung won a bronze, after narrowly missing the chance to retain his title.
The Olympic gold medallist fell 15-13 to Marini in a semi-final.
