Xiaomi Corporation (1810.HK), a leading consumer electronics and smart manufacturing company, celebrated its 15th anniversary with the launch of its first self-developed 3nm flagship chip, the ‘Surge O1’, and its inaugural luxury SUV, the Xiaomi YU7. The announcement came during a strategic product launch event in Beijing on May 22, 2025.
The Surge O1 processor, based on second-generation 3nm process technology, integrates 19 billion transistors within a 109mm² area and delivers a peak frequency of 3.9GHz. It powers the newly unveiled Xiaomi 15S Pro and Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, making Xiaomi the first company in Mainland China and the fourth globally to independently design a 3nm mobile chipset.
CEO Lei Jun highlighted the company’s decade-long chip journey, emphasizing over RMB13.5 billion invested in the project and a team of more than 2,500 engineers. He reiterated Xiaomi’s commitment to investing at least RMB50 billion in chip development over the next ten years, calling it a ‘battle we cannot avoid.’
Also revealed was the Surge T1, Xiaomi’s first 4G smartwatch chip with integrated eSIM support, featured in the Xiaomi Watch S4 15th Anniversary Edition. This expansion underscores Xiaomi’s ambition in mobile communications technology.
The Xiaomi YU7, a luxury high-performance SUV, debuted as the company’s first SUV under its automotive arm. Equipped with a 690-horsepower V6s Plus motor and 800V silicon carbide platform, the YU7 boasts a 0–100 km/h acceleration of 3.23 seconds and a CLTC range of 835km. It comes with next-gen cockpit technology, 5-screen connectivity, and NVIDIA Thor™ chips with 700TOPS computing power.
Xiaomi also launched a suite of smart home products including upgraded air conditioners, washing machines, fridges, water purifiers, and the Mini LED 2025 TV series. In Q1 2025, its smart home appliances saw over 100% year-on-year growth, with its water purifier ranking No.1 online in China.
Looking ahead, Lei Jun announced a further RMB200 billion investment in core technology R&D between 2026 and 2030, doubling down on Xiaomi’s ambition to become a global hardcore tech leader.
