Markets rose 2.2 percent on Tuesday, led by continued buying of mainland Chinese tech firms.

Alibaba, Tencent and JD.com were in the vanguard once again but electric vehicle maker BYD was also a big winner.

It jumped more than six percent to hit a record high at one point after unveiling battery technology that it says can charge in five minutes.

Shares in the EV maker ended up 3.96 percent at 6,105.50.

Hong Kong stocks ended with the benchmark Hang Seng Index up 2.46 percent at 24,740.57.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index climbed 2.79 percent to end at 9,177.80.
