Deputy Chief Secretary Warner Cheuk, who chairs the Working Group on Promoting Silver Economy, also said the government has been getting positive feedback on the 30 measures it unveiled to capitalise on the economic rewards of an ageing population.
“The development of the silver economy is not just related to the well-being of the elderly population but also about the sustainable development of our entire society,” he said.
“The government needs active cooperation and action from all sectors of society to achieve the maximum benefits of the silver economy.”
Cheuk’s comments came as the DAB set up the Alliance of Silver Economy Development, which is aimed at consolidating efforts to assist in the government’s drive.
Officials previously announced measures in five areas: boosting “silver consumption”, developing the “silver industry”, promoting “quality assurance of silver products”, enhancing “silver financial and security arrangements” and unleashing “silver productivity”.
