Hong Kong representatives AR★Lu and Ronnie claimed the top prize at the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) held in Nagoya this summer, marking the city’s first-ever championship at the global cosplay competition.
The pair, dressed as a male swordsman in Zinogre armor and the character Felyne from the Monster Hunter franchise, performed a stage act set against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s Lion Rock hunting a legendary dragon. They earned the highest score in costume evaluation and placed fourth in stage performance, securing overall victory.
The WCS, launched in 2003 in Nagoya, is the world’s largest international cosplay contest and cultural exchange event, attracting participants from 40 countries and regions this year. Hong Kong has sent teams regularly since 2014, but this marks its first championship title.
