Overwhelming Demand for Chiikawa-Themed Gold Charms and Coins
On March 23, 2025, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group launched an exclusive collaboration with the popular Japanese manga series Chiikawa, introducing a collection of nine gold charms and coins priced between HK$540 and HK$2,100. The collection debuted at the iSQUARE store in Hong Kong and the MGM store in Macau, attracting large crowds and selling out within hours. By noon, queues exceeded 100 people, with some products selling out in under two hours.
Resale Market Flourishes Amid Product Scarcity
Following the swift sell-out, some buyers began reselling the Chiikawa gold items on online marketplaces such as Carousell. Original HK$540 charms were listed starting at HK$800, while HK$2,100 bracelet charms appeared with markups ranging from HK$200 to HK$800. Chow Tai Fook is currently accepting pre-orders for the collection, with deliveries expected in mid-May.
